WANT TO HELP SAVE THE WORLD?

Want to be a part of designing solutions to the United Nations 17 sustainable goals? Join us in a Global Hackathon, where over 70 cities around the world come together to tackle sustainability!

To collaborate, we need to engage in a way that goes beyond talking, towards making and creating, in a space for people from all backgrounds who bring in their local knowledge, ensuring a bottom-up, grassroots approach.

This is why we started the Jam: a 2 day hackathon event to engage makers and designers to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals by creating short-term interventions with long-term impact. More than an event, it is a network of cities and organisations that are excited to engage their local communities to create real impact for the Global Goals.

The Global Goals Jam will be presented in a video at the UN Climate Week in New York.

We want to create real impact, going beyond the Jam. Best ideas could join an incubator and/or internal innovation programs of our corporate partners.

This year, in 2020, we will be jamming from 18th-20th September.  There will be opportunities to register as a jammer either as an individual or in corporate teams of 6.

2020s Global Themes

PUBLIC HEALTH

How can we guarantee that everyone around the world has access to a healthy lifestyle as well as to a good quality health system? How can we fight communicable diseases effectively and efficiently?
How can we ensure that our cities offer a safe place and provide quality of life for everyone?

EDUCATION FOR ALL

Obtaining a quality education is the foundation to creating sustainable development. How can we make sure more children have access to equal education? How can we make sure that our education prepares us for the future, and that we ensure life-long learning? How can technology help us to make education and training available to vulnerable populations?

NATURE & CLIMATE CHANGE

Climate change is the defining issue of our time and we are at a defining moment.

How do we prevent, prepare for and act on climate change? How can we ensure healthy and sustainable relationships with our natural surroundings?

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT FOR PEOPLE & THE PLANET

How do we make sure social and economic development for people equals sustainable development for the planet? How do move from human-centered, to humanity and planet-centred design?

NASA has great data and articles to challenge our thinking: This infographic shows the rise in sea levels since 1900. Pre-1940, glaciers and Greenland meltwater dominated the rise; dam projects slowed the rise in the 1970s. Now, ice sheet and glacier melt, plus thermal expansion, dominate the rise. Tide-gauge data shown in blue and satellite data in orange.
